Intensive Arabic Language Program
The Intensive Arabic Language Program, offered during the summer and winter, are four-week modular courses, July 7 - July 31, 2014, August 4 - August 28, 2014 and January 26 - February 19, 2015. The courses focus on Modern Standard Arabic (the written language).
Classes meet four days a week, six hours each day, and students can expect several hours of homework every day. In order to provide an opportunity for students to actually speak Arabic and immerse in the culture, students will go on weekly field trips to visit locations of interest in Arab communities in the northern parts of Israel. An afternoon homework club is available for students who are interested in receiving extra help with their studies from local students.
The courses are taught in English and are designed for beginners who have never studied the language, and for student's who have already acquired language skills. Acceptance to the program is conditional upon completing a placement exam by May 1, 2014 (summer courses). Once placement exams are received, prospective students will be informed if their appropriate level will be offered.
The Arabic Language Program awards five academic credits.
Each summer we offer a wide range of social activities, including trips, lectures, and celebrations. Participation is optional.
